Victory for Pennsylvania voters, and new voting lawsuits are filed in Louisiana and Arizona

Wednesday, July 10

AOC moves to impeach two scandal-ridden Supreme Court Justices
* Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) introduced ([link removed]) articles of impeachment against U.S. Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.
* Thomas failed to disclose the gifts he received. Alito flew flags associated with the Jan. 6 insurrection at his residences and refused ([link removed]) to recuse himself from any Jan. 6 or 2020 election-related cases.

Victory for voters in Pennsylvania
* Pennsylvania directed ([link removed]) all of its 67 counties to print new mail-in ballots and fix a technical issue with the date section — a move that a pro-voter retiree group, who sued over the issue, says will prevent elderly voters' ballots from being rejected.

Voting lawsuits filed this week in Louisiana and Arizona
* A disability rights group sued ([link removed]) Louisiana over new voter suppression laws that restrict absentee ballot assistance and create onerous witness requirements, claiming the laws discriminate against voters with disabilities.
* Right-wing groups sued ([link removed]) Arizona over the state's Election Procedures Manual (EPM), which prohibits intimidating voters and regulates election certification. It’s the fourth conservative-backed lawsuit and the first federal complaint against Arizona’s EPM.

Majority of Americans support no-excuse absentee voting
* 60% of Americans said ([link removed]) voters should have the option to vote early or absentee without having to document a reason for doing so, according to a recent Pew Research Center survey.

Threats against election officials are a concern for 2024 election
* In a new YouTube video ([link removed]) , Democracy Docket’s Sophie Feldman discusses the rising threats against election officials across the country.
* Last week, Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) urged ([link removed]) the DOJ and FBI to take measures to ensure they are prepared to protect election workers during the 2024 election and fight against the rising intimidation, harassment and threats of violence these workers are facing.
