Meet our new Executive Director Santa Fe Dreamers Project welcomes new Executive Director, Miles Tokunow We are thrilled to announce the hiring of Miles Tokunow as the new Executive Director of Santa Fe Dreamers Project who started on July 1, 2024! After a long and extensive search featuring many qualified and exciting candidates, we are confident that we have landed on the right person to lead our organization forward through its next chapter. Miles comes to us from OLÉ (Organizers in the Land of Enchantment), a grassroots nonprofit that focuses on movement building for working families to shape New Mexico’s future. Miles has worked at OLÉ as an organizer since 2016, and has served as deputy director for the past 4 years. He has a wealth of experience working in the community on a variety of issues and campaigns including Amendment 1, which successfully enshrined a constitutional right to an early childhood education for every New Mexican child in 2022. Miles’s experience in nonprofit leadership, coalition-building, and specifically working with immigrants and mixed-status families in New Mexico will be a huge contribution to Santa Fe Dreamers Project. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to our organization! “I am honored to be taking the helm of such an important and impactful organization. I am excited to bring my passion, expertise and grassroots relationships to SFDP’s mission to bend the arc towards justice for our vibrant immigrant community. We are at a crucial time in our country’s history and I believe that our work at SFDP will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and unity of our diverse communities. Lastly, I want to share immense gratitude for Emma for her meticulous leadership and vision for SFDP over these past 2 years.” - Miles Tokunow Thank you to outgoing SFDP Executive Director, Emma O’Sullivan, who has been at the helm for the past two years. We are grateful for Emma’s leadership, for her many contributions as Executive Director, and for her long term commitment and service to our local immigrant community. Emma began as a staff attorney with SFDP in the early days of the organization, and was our legal director from 2019 to 2022. In her time at the organization, Emma has represented hundreds of clients including survivors of violent crime, detained asylum seekers, and many others. “I’ve been incredibly lucky to call Santa Fe Dreamers Project my professional home for the past eight years, and to work alongside truly remarkable clients, coworkers, and colleagues. It’s rare to have an organization with such deep roots in the community, full of folks with stellar legal minds, huge compassionate hearts, and who live their values every day in pursuit of liberation and dignity for the immigrant community. I know the organization is in great hands with Miles coming on board, and I can’t wait to continue collaborating together in a new way.” - Emma O’Sullivan We wish Emma all the best in her new position at New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty, and know that many will benefit from her future endeavors!
