John,

As we continue to fight the spread of COVID-19, I know many in our community are struggling with unforeseen financial hardships, loss of employment, food insecurity, and more.

To help navigate these difficult times, I want to draw attention to some of the programs our state has in place to provide relief and assistance to Arizonans in need. ArizonaTogether.com is a one-stop shop for information on everything from rental assistance to emergency health services and more.

My team and I also compiled the following list of resources that can help:

Unemployment: Those recovering from COVID-19-related job loss can file for Unemployment Insurance Benefits online, by phone, or by mail. To apply, you’ll need to provide your social security number, mailing address, driver license or state-issued ID number, and employment history. Visit the Department of Economic Security’s website for more information.

Small business relief: Small business owners who are facing financial hardships can apply for emergency loan assistance. To find out if your small business is eligible for relief, see the Chamber of Commerce’s checklist.

Childcare assistance: Arizona Enrichment Centers can help provide free childcare for healthcare professionals, first responders, and other essential workers. Click here to find an Arizona Enrichment Center near you.

Food assistance:

Visit the Arizona Food Bank Network’s website for a list of food banks in your area.

With schools moving classes online for the foreseeable future, children can still take advantage of free grab-and-go meals. See AZ Health Zone’s website for a list of schools offering free meals for children.

See the Arizona Department of Economic Security for county-specific information on free meals for senior citizens.

For a complete list of information and resources, visit ArizonaTogether.org.

We will continue to keep you updated as the situation changes, and in the meantime, you can always visit the CDC’s website for more information. If you have further questions or believe you may have been exposed to COVID-19, call the Arizona Department of Health Services at (844) 542-8201.

In service,

-- Sheriff Paul Penzone
