Summer Stats: Insights from Fast Fact Fridays

This month on [#FastFactFridays]([link removed]), we're focusing on summer statistics. During school holidays, preteens and teens under 14 are more likely to experience pregnancies, with peak months for births in March, April, and September—nine months after June, July, and December. This trend was disrupted only in 2020 during the pandemic. Older teens also face increased pregnancy risks in June, December, October, and November. Source: CDC Natality dataset, 2016-2022.

- Are you a Texas clinician, educator, counselor, parent, or youth who is passionate about sexual health? Please take a few minutes to fill out our [stakeholder voices survey]([link removed]), which will help inform our future policy work. We want to hear how Texas laws on issues like birth control access and health education impact you or the young people you work with. Respondents can choose to enter their email address for a chance to win a $50 gift card.

- ERRATUM: Last month as part of our Advocacy Updates we stated that starting May 1st, emergency contraception is officially a covered benefit, regardless of their healthcare plan. Please excuse our error as we provide the correct information: After May 1, 2024, Healthy Texas Women (HTW) and Family Planning Program providers may be reimbursed for counseling on and the provision of emergency contraception.
