John,
This week brought more grim statistics, Georgia now has 16,368 confirmed cases, at least 617 deaths from COVID-19. And Governor Kemp is already making plans to reopen our economy, despite recent data suggesting the virus won't peak until early May. And even then we can't completely rely on the reported cases. If you are like me, you are anxious to try and get back to some sort of normalcy. To see and hug and kiss your friends and family again. While at the same time so many working the frontlines of this pandemic are just trying to get a reprieve from the overtime and overstretched demands placed on essential workers.
We all need to do our part. That's why I'm calling on our local and state elected leaders to implement widespread education and encouragement about the importance of wearing masks in high traffic public places, like grocery stores or along the bike path trails around metro Atlanta.
The CDC has put out new guidelines on why we should wear masks, and also about how to properly wear one: [link removed]
I'm listening to public health experts. Last week I ordered my custom cloth mask from a local non-profit here in Clarkston, the Amani Women's Center.
Earlier today I sat down for a short discussion (15 min) with Doris Mokangu from AWC to talk about their CDC spec'd mask-making program, and how they are helping the community in this pandemic crisis. Check out our conversation here. - [link removed]
I want to encourage everyone to get your mask today. I recommend ordering from Doris and her amazing group of talented seamstresses, they will ship to you anywhere in the USA.

We are all eager to get through this pandemic as quickly as possible. Normalization of mask-wearing in public is a crucial part of reducing the risk of spread and protecting the most vulnerable in our communities from infection.
Every time you put on your mask, you are contributing to defeating this virus, saving lives, and helping get our economy bouncing back.
Thank you! You are my hero!
