John,
This week brought more grim statistics, Georgia now has 16,368 confirmed cases, at least 617 deaths from COVID-19. And Governor Kemp is already making plans to reopen our economy, despite recent data suggesting the virus won’t peak until early May. And even then we can’t completely rely on the reported cases.
If you are like me, you are anxious to try and get back to some sort of normalcy. To see and hug and kiss your friends and family again. While at the same time so many working the frontlines of this pandemic are just trying to get a reprieve from the overtime and overstretched demands placed on essential workers.
We all need to do our part. That’s why I’m calling on our local and state elected leaders to implement widespread education and encouragement about the importance of wearing masks in high traffic public places, like grocery stores or along the bike path trails around metro Atlanta.

We are all eager to get through this pandemic as quickly as possible. Normalization of mask-wearing in public is a crucial part of reducing the risk of spread and protecting the most vulnerable in our communities from infection.
