The alumni of Poynter’s Leadership Academy for Diversity in Media ([link removed]) have some pretty strong feelings about their experience.

“I discover that with every new situation or opportunity that arises in my work, I am presented with options that weren’t possible for me to think about before attending the academy,” reported 2022 program attendee Laura Albast, the senior editor of digital content strategy at the Institute for Palestine Studies.

Through Leadership Academy for Diversity in Media ([link removed]) , Poynter’s BIPOC faculty and adjuncts have coached nearly 200 journalists of color as they focus on becoming more effective managers, visionary leaders and change agents.

We are now recruiting for our eighth group ([link removed]) , which will meet for a week in September at Poynter in St. Petersburg, Florida.

This in-person, immersive experience will foster the diversity of voices necessary in the profession and train the next generation of opinion writers from a wide spectrum of backgrounds.
