VA Home Loan Update Allows Veterans to Be Competitive When House Shopping

Beginning Aug. 10, 2024, eligible Veterans, active duty service members and surviving spouses who use their VA home loan benefits can opt to pay for certain real estate buyer-broker fees when purchasing a home.

VA History: "Bivouac of the Dead" Poem Tablet

The mounted plaque stands in front of the headstones at Mobile National Cemetery in Alabama. Across its face in white lettering runs the sorrowful first stanza of Theodore O’Hara’s poem, “Bivouac of the Dead.” Originally written to honor the Kentucky volunteers who died in the Mexican War (1846-48), the poem now serves as a literary memorial to all lives lost in service to the nation.
