Service Dogs Lower Severity of PTSD Symptoms in Veterans
K9s For Warriors is the nation’s largest provider of trained service dogs to Veterans suffering from invisible wounds of war. They pair highly trained service dogs with Veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and/or military sexual trauma—all at no cost to the Veteran.
Boulder Crest Foundation trains Veterans and active-serving military service members to thrive in the aftermath of trauma using the science of Posttraumatic Growth (PTG). Learn more about their free, PTG-based program.
The mounted plaque stands in front of the headstones at Mobile National Cemetery in Alabama. Across its face in white lettering runs the sorrowful first stanza of Theodore O’Hara’s poem, “Bivouac of the Dead.” Originally written to honor the Kentucky volunteers who died in the Mexican War (1846-48), the poem now serves as a literary memorial to all lives lost in service to the nation.

Service platoons are an opportunity to engage and connect with Veterans and community members while generating community impact. But that’s not all, service platoons also gather for social events and support other local organization events, and many events are kid friendly. If you have an intense passion for service and entrepreneurial spirit, you might consider leading a platoon after completing Service Leadership Corps Program offered every year.
