** Webinar Series
------------------------------------------------------------

Stop The Bleed Coalition | June 10th

STOP THE BLEED® Day marked the first STOP THE BLEED® webinar designed specifically for instructors. This inaugural virtual event was aimed at providing current and future STOP THE BLEED® instructors with information about existing and planned resources and training tools designed to enhance their ability to educate the public on life-saving bleeding control techniques.

One of the most valuable segments was the introduction of new digital resources. Attendees were guided through an array of online tools. These resources are designed to enhance both in-person and virtual training sessions, making it easier for instructors to engage their audiences and to ensure effective learning outcomes.

Additionally, the webinar featured a robust Q&A session, with instructors posing a wide range of questions.

The event also highlighted the upcoming release of the new STOP THE BLEED® Training System. This system is designed to make it easy for instructors to set up, administer and track their classes.

The Coalition will be announcing the schedule for its webinar series later on this month so more instructors are able to learn about the growing resources the Coalition has developed to support them.

A team of trained instructors from the Washington County Health Department is doing its part to educate as many people in the community as possible to reduce life-threatening bleeding.

The STOP THE BLEED® program is nationally recognized to provide hands-on education and practice at no cost to prepare anyone to help when someone is bleeding out as a result of an injury or trauma.

“As one of the nation’s largest public health campaigns, the goal of STOP THE BLEED® is to save lives by training people across the country how to get involved, take action and stop traumatic bleeding,” said Jared Blakeslee, director of the community health outreach, prevention and promotion division at the Washington County Health Department.

Community organizations and businesses interested in having STOP THE BLEED® training on-site at their campus or facility may reach out to Blakeslee at 240-313-3410 or [email protected].

Partners in “Stop the Bleed” range from the local to federal level and are acknowledged on the program’s website at stopthebleedproject.org ([link removed]) .

** STOP THE BLEED® Project teaches Lexington how to provide help in emergencies

** Fox56 News | May 24th

By Daegiona Wilson

A national emergency education group visited Lexington to teach the public what to prepare for when a bleeding accident arises.

Stop the Bleed Project ([link removed]) is a national campaign to train the public on how to save lives and stop traumatic bleeding. May 23 is ‘Stop the Bleed’ Day. UK Healthcare, along with the Lexington Fire Department, held a training event for the public on the ABCs of Stop the Bleed.

According to the project, ([link removed]) the average bleed-out time after an injury is 3-5 minutes.

Amie Peel, UK Trauma Education Coordinator, said, “There is that gap in time that a person could survive if some bystander would just intervene and hold pressure. So, this is all about saving lives today.”

Ethan Culidge is one of the several people who took advantage of the free training. He said his day job requires computers and data, but those are not the only skills he needs.

“I now have it trained in my brain what I need to do in the moment because, when you get that adrenaline rush, a lot of your thinking ability goes out the window,” said Culidge. He said he encourages others to also familiarize themselves with the ABC method.

“It’s something you can carry with you for the rest of your life. You can teach it to your children, you can teach it to your family members, and it’s simple. It’s easy.”

After providing lifesaving care to an NYC subway conductor who was slashed in the neck in March, #NYPBrooklyn’s Dr. Patrick McGrory trained about 30 transit workers from TWU Local 100 in techniques to control heavy bleeding. We applaud Dr. McGrory for continuing to share his emergency medicine expertise through the @stopthebleedproject program and his students for learning the skills to save a life.

One of the greatest moments you can have as an instructor in the emergency service field is finding out something you taught made a difference. The last update is that the patient is in stable condition. I am truly humbled.
