This week, President Biden issued a disappointing and disturbing executive
order on immigration that the ACLU says, “will severely restrict people's
legal right to seek asylum, putting tens of thousands of lives at
risk," John.

The order will shut down asylum requests at the U.S.-Mexico border if/when
undocumented crossings average 2,500 per day. President Biden is also
cutting down the minimum amount of time migrants have to consult an
attorney from 24 hours to only 4 hours — going even further than Trump’s
former policy.

These Trump-era limitations on asylum seekers will only result in more
deportations and harm to migrants fleeing violence and seeking a better

Four years ago, President Biden campaigned on ending Donald Trump’s cruel,
dehumanizing immigration policies. This attempt to win over conservative
voters ahead of November’s election is a major step backward and
completely out of line with our Democratic values.

We agree with Representatives Ayanna Pressley and Delia Ramirez, who
joined other Justice Democrats incumbents in speaking out against this:
