Yesterday, Senate Republicans voted almost unanimously to block the Right to Contraception Act. This crucial bill would codify a federal right for all Americans to access and use the birth control that works best for them. The bill failed on a vote of 51-39 [[link removed]] , falling short of the 60 votes needed.
This result is horrifying and infuriating.
Access to contraception is essential to health and economic well-being. It allows everyone to have the families they choose. These are fundamental rights.
We’re disappointed in this outcome but committed to continuing our work to ensure that everyone in the world who wants contraceptives and other reproductive health care can get it safely, quickly, and legally.
