** June IDP Newsletter
------------------------------------------------------------

Our IDP team hasn't slowed down this year! We're excited to share our freshest updates on 'Know Your Rights' resources for the community, plus our involvement in events and conferences. To top it all, we've got a free CLE on the horizon for advocates and attorneys. Stay informed and connected!

** Updated Spanish Language Know Your Rights Page
------------------------------------------------------------

We updated our Spanish Know Your Rights page, Conozca Sus Derechos ([link removed]) . The page lists all of IDP's Spanish language KYR materials in one place, including our recent FAQ about ICE detainers! IDP KYR materials include flyers, booklets, and posters about rights in the home, on the street, in cars, and when ICE lies about who they are and available in many languages, found on our English KYR ([link removed]) page.

These materials have been created in response to on the ground practices of ICE policing and are based on the tactics we hear through our hotline and work with advocates.

We share these resources widely with attorneys and advocates and welcome the distribution of our KYR materials anywhere they may be useful. Let us know if you use them at an event, we love to hear about the materials in use!

** Documentary Screening and Panel
------------------------------------------------------------

In May, Yasmine Farhang, Director of Advocacy, moderated a panel at the New York premier of the documentary Borderland: The line within ([link removed]) . The film exposes the profitable business of immigration and its human cost, while sharing the stories of immigrant heroines and heroes resisting and showing a way forward, intent on building a movement in the shadow of the border industrial complex, recognizing the human rights of all.

Yasmine moderated a discussion at the DC Firehouse Theater with Pamela Yates, who directed the film, and two people featured, Gabriela Casteñeda, a DACA recipient and organizer, and Alex Gil, an immigrant and professor of Digital Humanities. The conversation was dynamic, ranging from insights about filmmakers obtained audio and video depicting the journey of one person from Guatemala to the U.S. to the the importance of organizing long time immigrant residents and newly arrived people around common experiences and visions for the future.

** IDP Staff at Detention Watch Network Member Conference
------------------------------------------------------------

Jon Rodney, Narrative Strategy Director, and Linda Flor Brito, Senior Policy and Campaigns Organizer attended the Detention Watch Network Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. They reconnected in person with organizer and advocate friends, attended educational and skill building sessions, and shared information with others about our work and vision for ending mass immigrant detention and deportation.

** Upcoming CLE!

** My Noncitizen Client Was Arrested: Collecting and Deciphering Criminal Documents In New York
------------------------------------------------------------

On June 18 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm EDT, IDP will be giving a FREE virtual CLE.

This course covers the types of documents that are generated in a New York state criminal case, how to obtain them, how to read them, and how to organize the information. It is great for anyone working with non-citizen clients, including interns, paralegals, and social workers in addition to attorneys. We’ll have plenty of introductory information for folks without much crim-imm experience, as well as tips for more experienced advocates.
