June IDP Newsletter

Our IDP team hasn't slowed down this year! We're excited to share our freshest updates on 'Know Your Rights' resources for the community, plus our involvement in events and conferences. To top it all, we've got a free CLE on the horizon for advocates and attorneys. Stay informed and connected!

Updated Spanish Language Know Your Rights Page

We updated our Spanish Know Your Rights page, Conozca Sus Derechos. The page lists all of IDP's Spanish language KYR materials in one place, including our recent FAQ about ICE detainers! IDP KYR materials include flyers, booklets, and posters about rights in the home, on the street, in cars, and when ICE lies about who they are and available in many languages, found on our English KYR page.

These materials have been created in response to on the ground practices of ICE policing and are based on the tactics we hear through our hotline and work with advocates.

We share these resources widely with attorneys and advocates and welcome the distribution of our KYR materials anywhere they may be useful. Let us know if you use them at an event, we love to hear about the materials in use!

Upcoming CLE!

My Noncitizen Client Was Arrested: Collecting and Deciphering Criminal Documents In New York

On June 18 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm EDT, IDP will be giving a FREE virtual CLE.

This course covers the types of documents that are generated in a New York state criminal case, how to obtain them, how to read them, and how to organize the information. It is great for anyone working with non-citizen clients, including interns, paralegals, and social workers in addition to attorneys. We’ll have plenty of introductory information for folks without much crim-imm experience, as well as tips for more experienced advocates.
