What's On In June?

Out in the Night (2014)

This June, POV proudly presents two exceptional collections that honor both Juneteenth and PRIDE, featuring powerful stories of justice, identity, and equality.

Explore The Color of Justice ([link removed]) playlist, commemorating four years of impactful films that delve deeply into the systemic inequalities and injustices faced by Black and Brown communities. From the intimate journey of Idris and Seun navigating one of the most prestigious private schools in American Promise ([link removed]) to the harrowing case of four African-American lesbians wrongfully charged in Out in the Night ([link removed]) , this collection illuminates the critical intersections of race, gender identity, and the criminal justice system.

Our specially curated PRIDE ([link removed]) collection showcases vibrant voices within the LGBTQ+ community. Experience the courageous story of 16-year-old Ñoño in Things We Dare Not Do ([link removed]) , as he bravely expresses his desire to live as a woman despite societal challenges, and follow 19-year-old Hunter “Pixel” Jimenez navigating life as a nonbinary trans boy in To The Future, With Love ([link removed]) . These documentaries capture the essence of identity, belonging, and the pursuit of equality, offering transformative insights into the LGBTQ+ experience.

We are also thrilled to announce that While We Watched ([link removed]) has won the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award in the Documentary category. Directed by Vinay Shukla (An Insignificant Man), this acclaimed film had its national broadcast premiere in the 36th season of POV. Don't miss your chance to stream this award-winning documentary now.

Additionally, POV returns for its milestone 37th season ([link removed]) with the broadcast premiere of King Coal ([link removed]) on Monday, June 24. Directed by Elaine McMillion Sheldon, King Coal meditates on the complex history and future of the coal industry, the communities it has shaped, and the myths it has created. Be sure to tune in and embark on this new season with us! Check out the rest of the upcoming titles here ([link removed]) .

Available to Stream: unseen ([link removed]) (until June 16) and Fire Through Dry Grass ([link removed]) (until June 30).
