As we close out Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we recognize and celebrate the role that AAPI—and all immigrant communities—play in shaping our democracy, especially in this important election year.
To help our communities flex our growing political power, the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans [[link removed]] (NCAPA) and the Asian American Disinformation Table [[link removed]] (AADT) hosted Election Disinformation 201, a community call focused on election disinformation in Asian American communities. Let’s all make sure we use and share this information, stay vigilant in educating our communities, and do our part to defend our democracy!

Our democracy is on the line. With the 2024 elections less than half a year away, The Brennan Center [[link removed]] has compiled an extensive list of new restrictive voting laws that have swept the country. While some of these laws are still being challenged, it's important to learn which states have been affected, how you can ensure your voice is heard in this important election year, and what you can do to safeguard the integrity of our elections.

Action

In order to make progress on the issues shaping our communities, we must have a government where everyday people have a voice, rather than billionaires and corporate interests.
That's why we're urging Congress to pass the Freedom to Vote Act + John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act [[link removed]] . We must protect our freedom to vote and combat the influence of big money in politics so that all of us - no matter our color, zip code, or income - have an equal say in our democracy.
