john, I’d like to introduce you to a truly unique man I have the honor of serving with in the U.S. Senate: Angus King.

Angus represents the “big small town” of Maine, and in 2012, he flipped this seat from Republican to Independent .

You see, Angus is one of those rare birds in Congress who stands outside of the two-party system.

To find out if we shared the same values, I had to take the time to talk with him. And that’s really the entire point of why he serves as an Independent — he wants politicians and voters of both parties to take the time to listen to each other. I can respect that.
