If you’ve listened to any elected Democrats lately, you might come away with the impression that they perceive Donald Trump’s potential return to Washington as an existential threat facing democracy in America [ [link removed] ]. On the one hand, they have plenty of grist for the mill. Just this weekend, Mr. Trump suggested that he might ultimately seek a third term [ [link removed] ] in the White House, despite a constitutional amendment ratified in 1951 [ [link removed] ] that explicitly limits any president to two terms.

While they’re not wrong to suggest that Trump openly brags about his disdain for democracy, Democrats sadly cast stones from a glass house. I’ve written [ [link removed] ] at some length [ [link removed] ] on any number [ [link removed] ] of previous instances [ [link removed] ] about the hypocrisy [ [link removed] ] of ultimately authoritarian [ [link removed] ] Democrats, which sadly reached new heights (depths?) this month.
Two largely overlooked issues, in particular, reveal the disturbing co-optation of Democrats—including President Biden—by their supposed nemesis.
If familiarity with U.S. history ever became a requirement for federal office, most of Congress would be disqualified immediately.
