If you’ve listened to any elected Democrats lately, you might come away with the impression that they perceive Donald Trump’s potential return to Washington as an existential threat facing democracy in America. On the one hand, they have plenty of grist for the mill. Just this weekend, Mr. Trump suggested that he might ultimately seek a third term in the White House, despite a constitutional amendment ratified in 1951 that explicitly limits any president to two terms.

While they’re not wrong to suggest that Trump openly brags about his disdain for democracy, Democrats sadly cast stones from a glass house. I’ve written at some length on any number of previous instances about the hypocrisy of ultimately authoritarian Democrats, which sadly reached new heights (depths?) this month.

Two largely overlooked issues, in particular, reveal the disturbing co-optation of Democrats—including President Biden—by their supposed nemesis.

If familiarity with U.S. history ever became a requirement for federal office, most of Congress would be disqualified immediately.

No one should be surprised given the pattern. But outrage remains thoroughly appropriate—especially considering that the right-wing Supreme Court actually earned its salt last week by defying the conservative consensus currently dominating Congress...
