Hi all!
Looking back at a momentous event in our history can be an important way to measure just how far we have come — or not. Seventy years ago this week, the Supreme Court made a historic ruling ([link removed]) , rejecting racial segregation in our nation’s schools. Alas, it was never that simple, and this week The Hechinger Report looks at the many repercussions and the backsliding, with a visual history, the latest research ([link removed]) as well as some messages of hope ([link removed]) . Take a look and tell us what you think.
This week, we also take you inside an effort ([link removed]) by four-year schools to offer lower-cost two-year associate degree programs that can help students who need the most support, and continue our math coverage with a look at ([link removed]) connecting math to culture, by making it more engaging and inclusive. There’s a lot more, so please spread the word: Sign up for our newsletters ([link removed]) and become a member ([link removed]) !

What does that financial aid offer really mean?
Congratulations! You've been selected to receive financial aid to help cover the costs of college. But what exactly is an “FSEOG” or “Unsubsidized Stafford,” and how much of the money you've been promised is really just a student loan? Our newly relaunched Offer Letter Decoder tool ([link removed]) can help, providing insight into what kinds of financial aid colleges and universities are really offering.
