** Re: Election Commission of Hawaii
------------------------------------------------------------
Good afternoon,
The Hawaii State Elections Commission has voted to audit a randomly selected precinct in district 37 for the 2022 election. This is a historic event. A proper audit has never been conducted to compare the electronic tallies to hand counted paper ballots counting all races on the ballot. The office of election stated that “We do not need assistance with conducting the audit”. Also the Elections Commission has asked the chief information officer to review the pre-election audit and safety procedures. This is your chance to get involved and ensure that our elections are being conducted properly and to hold the office of elections accountable. (see letter ([link removed]) ).
As you know, our Hawaii elections have been moved from precinct voting and counting to centralized voting centers, mail-in ballots and centralization counting centers. The Election Office in Hawaii has the legal obligation to follow the laws created by the Hawaii Legislature. The Hawaii Legislature has the legal obligation to follow the Federal and State Constitutions. The Election Commission was created to be the watch-dog of the Election Office, to oversee that the laws are followed, and to listen to the voters in Hawaii as it pertains to our elections. They also provide recommendations to the Election Office and hire and fire the Chief Elections officer. Here is your chance to make your voice heard and make a difference - to put some pressure on the commissioners to hold the office of elections accountable.
Historically, there has never been a proper audit conducted that follows HRS 16-42 b(3).
