Dear Friends,

It feels like almost every day something is grabbing our attention – whether that’s the turmoil on college campuses, antisemitic graffiti and fliers in our communities, or the continued increase in online hate. In the campus update sent earlier this week, it explains how we are closely monitoring campuses to ensure Jewish students feel safe and heard. We also continue to advocate for the immediate release of the hostages who have been held hostage for over 7 months. We will not stop until they are all released.

When we turn on the news or scroll through our social media, it becomes easy to get bogged down in the negative. What empowers my team and I is the glimmers of hope that shine through the dark. We have seen Jews and allies come together to show their pride and speak out against antisemitism. When we stand together, we say that hate and violence have no place in our region or beyond.

Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, two groups instrumentally ingrained in American culture. Continuing to learn about groups outside of our own encourages us to embrace our commonalities and differences, making it easier to unite when hate emerges.

ADL Report an Incident . We work with law enforcement agencies across the area to advocate on behalf of those targeted. Antisemitism and hate of any kind cannot be tolerated and we thank you for your partnership in Fighting Hate for Good.

IMPACT IN THE COMMUNITY


ADL D.C. continuously does work on the ground to serve our communities. Through robust educational programs, speaking engagements, and advocacy, we empower the region to challenge hate, bias, bigotry, and extremism.


In April, we provided Mothers of Northern Arlington with tools to talk to kids about antisemitism and later in the month conducted concurrent education to teens and adults with the Richmond Federation. We educated members of Peace Through Action on how to identify and interrupt antisemitism with strategies to challenge hate. We additionally partnered with Generations After to explore how to connect Holocaust testimony to contemporary antisemitism.

Dozens of Jewish activists, including a representative of from our team, participated in an Advocacy Day with the D.C. Council. Participants met with lawmakers to advocate for priority legislation like increasing funding for non-profit security grants, and to raise awareness of antisemitism in the District.
