Recent studies show that nearly 89% of Americans support legalizing
cannabis.^1

Despite growing support and full legalization in certain areas, cannabis
charges bar many Americans — disproportionately people of color, who are
nearly 4 times more likely to be arrested for marijuana — from housing
opportunities, employment, and more.

Since her first day on the campaign trail, Alexandria has stood with
community leaders and organizers to advocate for expungement of low-level
cannabis offenses, and pushed lawmakers to support legislation that
centers racial justice.

This shift would mean marijuana is no longer grouped alongside highly
dangerous drugs like heroin, and opens the door to softening restrictions
at state and local levels.

done.
