Demanding better.
Recent studies show that nearly 89% of Americans support legalizing cannabis.1
Despite growing support and full legalization in certain areas, cannabis charges bar many Americans — disproportionately people of color, who are nearly 4 times more likely to be arrested for marijuana — from housing opportunities, employment, and more.
Since her first day on the campaign trail, Alexandria has stood with community leaders and organizers to advocate for expungement of low-level cannabis offenses, and pushed lawmakers to support legislation that centers racial justice.
Which is why this news is a huge victory for our movement:
This shift would mean marijuana is no longer grouped alongside highly dangerous drugs like heroin, and opens the door to softening restrictions at state and local levels.
This is a major victory for our movement. But there’s a lot more to be done.
Ideas like decriminalizing marijuana are called ‘unrealistic,’ but we can win a better world by continuing to build coalitions and demanding change. Will you donate $5 right now to support Alexandria’s campaign for real progress?
Contribute $5
We need to get Alexandria back to Congress so she can keep doing what she was elected to do: demand better.
Whether or not you can contribute today, thank you for being part of this movement.
Thank you,
Team AOC
