Join us on May 14, 2024, for an event hosted by the Mayor’s Office of Education, Community College of Philadelphia, and Research for Action, focusing on the Octavius Catto Scholarship initiative and a For the Good of the City: Achieving Economic Opportunity for All through the Octavius Catto Scholarship Free college tuition—and wraparound support services—can be a transformative tool for economic development in cities. By removing financial barriers to higher education, it opens doors to opportunities that were previously inaccessible. This investment not only empowers individuals to pursue their dreams but also strengthens the workforce by fostering a more diverse and skilled talent pool. As these students graduate and enter the workforce with reduced debt burdens, they can contribute more effectively to their communities, driving innovation, productivity, and overall economic growth. In essence, free college tuition not only ensures the future success of individuals but also enriches the socioeconomic fabric of cities, paving the way for a more equitable and prosperous future for all. That’s the spirit behind a convening we’re hosting with Community College of Philadelphia on May 14, 2024.
