Learn more about what my office has been up to this week Dear john, This week, members of the Georgia congressional delegation took an important step towards establishing our state's first National Park. On Wednesday, we introduced the bipartisan Ocmulgee Mounds Park and Preserve Establishment Act, which would establish Ocmulgee Mounds and surrounding areas in Middle Georgia as a National Park and Preserve. The legislation is led in the Senate by Georgia’s Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock. It is led in the U.S. House by Representatives Austin Scott (GA-08) and Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) Our cultural and historic lands in Georgia must be preserved and protected, and I am so proud to be a cosponsor of this bill! This week was National Small Business Week. On Wednesday, I joined with my colleague Rep. Kathy Manning (NC-06) and the Democratic Women's Caucus in leading a conversation on we can support and women-owned small businesses in particular. Small business is the heart of local economies across the country, and we must continue to champion solutions in Congress that uplift all small business owners. Summer is fast approaching, and families and children across our district will soon begin thinking about their summer reading plans! To help support our local libraries, my office recently made a delivery of books to the Gwinnett Public Library system through the Library of Congress' Surplus Book Program. This is a fantastic way to get new books in circulation right here in our community. In Congress, I am a strong supporter of robust funding to the Innovative Approaches to Literacy program--we must do all that we can to foster a love of reading for every person. Thank you for taking the time to read this update. It is my honor to serve our community in Congress. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with my office.
