The fabric of the LGBTQ community has always been centered on seeking each other out and supporting one another. Our chosen families help us feel more connected, valid and safe. And even with the realities of COVID-19 tremendously impacting our lives and the lives of our loved ones, The Center’s commitment to our mission remains the same: Our top priority is the health and safety of our community members. We are here to help.

In the span of just 3 weeks, we brought many of our critical services online: one-on-one remote counseling sessions, virtual recovery groups, youth support groups and a virtual youth drop-in space, health care enrollment by phone and a remote team of information specialists fielding calls and emails every day. Our goal is nothing short of building a virtual community center to meet the diverse needs of all LGBTQ New Yorkers. So while public health requires physical distancing, we are working even harder to reduce isolation, to enhance connection and to provide access to care.
We know that the bonds of community are stronger than the threats we face. But without The Center, the current challenges are even more daunting for LGBTQ community members who are temporarily unable to enter a vibrant, safe, affirming space in which each individual is celebrated for who they are. We are committed to meeting their needs—but we can’t do it alone. With your help
