John, defending democracy and freedom, expanding opportunity and fairness, and meeting the climate crisis aren't just the words of a campaign for me. They've been the story of my life.

That story began in a small upstairs apartment, where I watched my immigrant parents work so hard yet struggle to make ends meet. But because America welcomed immigrants — and with help from public schools and Pell Grants — I grew from a kid whose parents didn’t speak much English to working in the White House.

I worked with President Clinton to pass the first balanced budget in 30 years, with Al Gore to sound the alarm early on global warming, and with President Obama to protect consumers and transform our healthcare system.

I served our nation in uniform after 9/11, and I took on the big banks after they caused the financial crisis.

I built a company that helped families avoid unfair bank fees and that treated its workers right. When Roe v. Wade was overturned, I ensured that every one of our employees would have access to reproductive health services even if they lived in a state where abortion was banned.
