No Mow May is back! City of Auburn, Maine. Government Calendar NEWS FROM AUBURN, MAINE "NO MOW MAY" IS BACK! "No Mow May" is back! This fun environmental campaign encourages residents to refrain from mowing their lawns during the month of May. The aim is to promote biodiversity and to provide a habitat for pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and other insects. In May, many Maine wildflowers begin to bloom, providing a vital source of nectar & pollen for pollinators. By not mowing, you can help provide a much-needed refuge for these important species. In an effort to lead by example, the City of Auburn & Auburn Public Works have selected locations in the city that will not be mowed during the month of May. We will also be planting a pollinator garden this month. Residents are encouraged to join the fun & participate in "No Mow May!" The first 100 residents to enroll will receive a free yard sign to proudly announce their participation!
