Laid off? Working from home? Get involved with DSA!
John, we're in the midst of a crisis unlike anything in our lifetimes. Folks who lived through Katrina saw powerful players take advantage of a massive disaster to enrich themselves, re-making our city to be smaller, whiter, more privatized and unequal. The same could happen on a much larger scale ([link removed]) as moneyed interests seize an opportunity to profit from the fallout of COVID19.
As socialists, we are committed to organizing for a better world, one where no one has to decide between going to work to keep their job or staying home to care for their child while schools are closed, where no one has to calculate if they can afford to pay their rent AND buy groceries, where laid off workers don't have to spend hours jumping through layers of bureaucracy just to apply for a single $500 grant they may or may not receive.
Right now, we are mobilizing our membership more than we ever have before. We are pressuring the Convention Center to set up a Fair Fund for Hospitality workers ([link removed]) , holding regular trainings to teach workers how to file for unemploymen ([link removed]) t, organizing with healthcare workers, hosting a weekly call to keep our membership updated ([link removed]) , and more.
We need your help now more than ever. If you want to get involved, fill out this form and we will be in touch! ([link removed])
