Extreme Washington Republicans are determined to defeat me because, John, they know I’ll always place the needs of Southern Nevadans over their far-right policies and political games.

John, as a little girl I learned the value of service. And without a doubt, I can say that my dedication to fighting for Southern Nevadans comes from my family. 

I’m the granddaughter of a Greek immigrant and grew up in a politically active family of proud Democrats in South Georgia. 

I came to Nevada to teach Political Science at UNLV and put theory to practice by running for the State Senate where I was the first woman to serve as Minority Leader. I went on to run for Congress and upon being elected was sworn in on my grandfather's Greek bible. 

Since I’ve been in Congress, I’ve followed the same principle that my family taught me: Help those who need it the most, not those who have the most.

I have carried that mindset with me throughout my service. I’ve made sure that our state received $1 billion in federal funding for laid-off workers during the pandemic. I fought to combat gun violence after we experienced the deadliest mass shooting in modern history. I helped cut prescription drug prices and lower sticker shock at the gas pump. 

Whenever Southern Nevadans need help, I come out swinging.

Southern Nevadans know that I’m a fighter, but I need grassroots supporters like you in my corner if we are going to win. Can I count on you to give $5, $25 or whatever amount you can spare to build up my campaign and continue the fight in Congress?
