Critical Care for Pregnant Women at Risk
======================================================================
Dear John,
Today, the Supreme Court is set to hear a case that threatens life-saving protections for women who need emergency pregnancy care—and NOW needs your strong voice to stand up for reproductive rights.
The case is about EMTALA—the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act—a 40-year-old federal law that ensures everyone can get the emergency medical care they need to stabilize their condition during an emergency. Shockingly, Idaho wants to keep hospitals from treating women facing serious pregnancy complications that threaten their lives.
Just as the extremists in Arizona who want to turn back the clock to an 1864 territorial statute, Idaho wants to shred decades of established law to force doctors nationwide to refuse treatment for individuals experiencing medical emergencies, like dangerously premature water breaking, pre-eclampsia, sepsis, and more.
With your help, NOW is fighting to ensure that everyone has access to the critical emergency care they need—including abortion care. It will be a catastrophe if the Supreme Court lets states like Idaho tear up existing law to suit the extremist demands of a powerful minority—but we can stop them!
Will you make a special donation to NOW today to help us continue our fight for abortion rights, healthcare access and equity in every aspect of our society?

Today’s Supreme Court case is about a simple question—when a woman shows up in an emergency room with a life-threatening emergency, is the hospital obliged to provide the necessary medical care? Or can doctors be forced to reject their oath and endanger their patients?
Please help NOW with a generous special donation today. We depend on members like you to stand up during challenging moments like this—and we’re grateful for your continued support.
In Solidarity,
Christian F. Nunes
