"The guy spent 70 years on this earth showing no regard for working people, and then suddenly, he's going to be the champion of working people? Come on. Come on, man."

President Barack Obama on then-candidate Donald Trump.

Trump tried to appeal to working class voters by arguing he'd be their economic champion in an era of rapidly growing income inequality. According to the Economic Policy Institute, "From 2009 to 2015, the incomes of the top 1 percent grew faster than the incomes of the bottom 99 percent in 43 states and the District of Columbia."

But Trump's only made income inequality worse. The U.S. Census Bureau says income inequality in 2018 was "significantly higher" than in Trump's first year in office, and the California Office of Economic Development economists know why: "The last round of tax policy out of Washington made this worse."

If you believe that working people have no champion in the White House -- if you believe we can't let Trump get away with saying he'll help the middle class only to turn around and give a break to the very richest -- we need you to add your name with tens of thousands of engaged Democrats across the country who are standing up to close the income gap. >> [link removed]
