John,
The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the NSSF for short, is the firearm industry’s biggest trade group. Their name may not be as known as the NRA's, but their insidious influence is just as great.
The NRA and the NSSF share a history of:
LOBBYING against gun violence prevention bills,
fighting to OVERTURN fundamental gun safety laws, and
SHIELDING the gun industry from accountability.
But last year, the NSSF spent twice as much as the NRA in lobbying , putting $5.4 million into this deadly agenda.
The NSSF board is made up of firearm company executives , including Smith and Wesson, the manufacturer of the gun used in Parkland and other mass shootings. In short, gun violence is bad for their bottom line.
Just like the NRA, the NSSF opposed the effort to pass universal background checks in the wake of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary. They go so far as to characterize President Biden as waging war on the Second Amendment.
The NSSF is growing revenue and membership, they’re spending more and more to further gun lobby interests in Congress, and we can't waste time in fighting back.
Luckily, Brady knows how to fight the NSSF, because we’ve been fighting the NRA for years and we’re seeing that work pay off. We may know their tricks, but we’re going to need all the support we can get if we’re going to overcome another extremist gun lobby group: Will you join us in denouncing the NSSF today, John?
