The annual observance celebrates school wellness achievements, aims to help communities understand the connection between student health and learning, and supports schools in promoting healthy lifestyles for kids. The communities where children and families live, learn, work, and play profoundly influence various aspects of physical and emotional health and well-being. These healthy communities lay the groundwork and provide the resources necessary to create conditions and opportunities that foster healthy lifestyles. In this endeavor, school nurses play a pivotal role as they are indispensable partners in enhancing school and community health. Their effective collaboration across sectors helps address health and learning barriers, thereby improving health processes and outcomes. Let’s continue working together to ensure all children have a bright and healthy future! Kate King, DNP, MS, RN, LSN NASN President Better Health.
