With the global economy reeling from the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, income inequality is rightly on the minds of Bronx families.
The pain wrought by the 2008 financial crisis was felt acutely by Main Street - in the Bronx, and in cities and towns around the country. But sadly, the bulk of the economic recovery from the 2008 financial crisis only happened among the wealthiest Americans and corporations.
The Great Recession gave the world a hard lesson on the dangers of unchecked Wall Street excess. It also showed the real consequences of failing to address systemic inequality and the financial security of everyday people. We can’t let that happen again.
