The Supreme Court is being asked to hear – and decide – an important case:
should someone lose their right to keep and bear arms over a bad check written
more than a decade ago?

That’s the question being asked in Vincent v. Garland.

John, Melynda Vincent is a licensed clinical social worker. A business owner.
A mother. And a public health activist.



But her life wasn’t always like that.



In 2008, Ms. Vincent was a homeless drug addict struggling to survive. She
wrote a bad check at a grocery store and was ultimately convicted of a felony
for the incident.



Since then, she graduated from college with multiple degrees, started a
counseling center, and works to help those suffering from substance abuse.



Now, Ms. Vincent wants to protect herself and her loved ones and even take up
hunting with her kids, but the mistake she made during a trying time in her
life is penalizing her and revoking a God-given right protected in the
Constitution still to this very day.



John, writing a bad check once in life shouldn’t prevent someone from
utilizing their Second Amendment rights.

P.S. – More than 50 years ago, Congress established the law defining what a
prohibited possessor is. Even if the Supreme Court decides not to hear this
case, we could easily ask Congress to amend the law and change the definition
of a felony so people like Ms. Vincent could exercise their Second Amendment
rights. But we both know that change would only happen if we send strong,
pro-2A candidates to Congress.
