Daily Docket — Monday, April 15

Here are some updates from the U.S. Supreme Court.
* In a win for voters, the Supreme Court declined ([link removed]) to take up a Republican legal challenge to Washington’s state-level Voting Rights Act — leaving in place the law’s robust protections for minority voters.
* Former President Donald Trump submitted ([link removed]) his reply brief in the immunity case before the Supreme Court, reiterating his argument that presidents "enjoy absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts." Oral argument will be held next week on April 25.
* The Arizona, Delaware and Georgia Republican parties urged ([link removed]) the Supreme Court to take up Kari Lake’s lawsuit trying to ban voting machines in Arizona, arguing that courts set too high of a standard for election challenges to proceed.
* The Supreme Court won't hear a case challenging a Wyoming law ([link removed]) that prohibits election campaigning, canvassing and collecting signatures within 300 feet of a polling place. The law will remain in effect.

And another, non-Supreme Court update from today.
* California's attorney general and secretary of state sued ([link removed]) Huntington Beach over a new voter ID amendment to the city charter approved by voters last month. The state officials argue that the measure violates state election law.

Here’s what’s coming up tomorrow.
* It’s an opinion day for the nation’s high court. We’re on the lookout for a ruling on South Carolina's congressional map ([link removed]) , which a lower court struck down for racial gerrymandering.

ICYMI, on Friday, we dropped our latest episode of Defending Democracy where Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold (D) joins Marc to discuss the rising threats against election workers, efforts to hold Trump and his 2020 lawyer John Eastman accountable and how secretaries of state are securing elections — plus the details of Republicans’ attempt to impeach her.
