When I ran for the 30th District of the Senate of Virginia last year, I faced at least 40 negative mailers that I knew of – centered so often on transphobic attacks – while I focused on my core message: “ Fixing Roads. Feeding Kids .” And then we won anyway.
So guess what happened afterward? I put the campaign behind me and got right back to work doing what I always do – keeping my head down, working hard with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in both chambers of the legislature, and delivering bipartisan results for the people.
Our results speak for themselves: the deadline for the Governor to take actions on our bills passed last night and he signed all 10 of my bills that landed on his desk into law. I’m the only Democratic senator who didn’t have a bill vetoed this year.
During the seven sessions I’ve served as a state legislator – six in the House of Delegates and one now in the Senate – we’ve passed and the two Governors I’ve served with have signed 51 of my bills into law, all of which earned bipartisan votes, and I’ve never received a veto.
I’ve been 4-0 in battleground races since 2017 and I’m effective in the General Assembly because I focus on delivering real-deal results on constituent service.
Now I have payroll to make and a printed newsletter to mail to tens of thousands of homes throughout my district highlighting the work we got done this session, so I need your help.
