planet-warming CO[ [link removed] ] emissions since 2016 can be traced to just 57 fossil
fuel and cement producers.^1

These 57 producers—which include ExxonMobil, Shell, BP, and
Chevron—produced an astounding 80% of the world's CO[2] emissions from
2016 to 2022.^2

As these corporations continue to imperil our planet for their profit, we
must continue our fight for bold, definitive action, like the Green New
Deal, to address our global climate crisis.

John, without urgent action, temperatures will continue to
rise, and the consequences will be utterly devastating.

If we fail to act, according to The New York Times:

* Nearly 1 billion people worldwide could swelter in more frequent
life-threatening heat waves.^3
* Hundreds of millions more would struggle for water because of severe
droughts.^4
* Some animal and plant species alive today will be gone in just a few
years.^5
* Coral reefs, which sustain fisheries for large swaths of the globe,
will suffer more frequent mass die-offs.^6

We're on the brink of a mass extinction of species and widespread human
suffering, with the worst impacts hitting poorer countries and
marginalized communities in the United States and other wealthy nations.

But we can prevent the worst of the climate crisis by coming together to
pressure lawmakers to end our reliance on fossil fuels and transition us
to an economy and society that place the planet before profits.
