Nearly 1 billion people worldwide could swelter in more frequent life-threatening heat waves.³
Hundreds of millions more would struggle for water because of severe droughts.⁴
Some animal and plant species alive today will be gone in just a few years.⁵
Coral reefs, which sustain fisheries for large swaths of the globe, will suffer more frequent mass die-offs.⁶

We're on the brink of a mass extinction of species and widespread human suffering, with the worst impacts hitting poorer countries and marginalized communities in the United States and other wealthy nations.
