Hi John,
It's Congresswoman Lois Frankel, and I wanted to make sure you heard – tomorrow, the US Supreme Court will hear arguments to decide on the future of mifepristone, one of two drugs administered during a medication abortion.
This comes after anti-choice extremists requested that the FDA reverse their approval of the pill. Without taking up too much of your time, here's what you need to know:
1️⃣ This case was first brought up last year, and if we're going based on precedent to predict the conclusion, the Supreme Court has never overrode the FDA's approval of a drug.
2️⃣ This fight against reproductive freedom isn't a new one. In 2023, Floridians saw our governor sign a six-week abortion ban, and earlier this year, other anti-choice extremists attacked IVF.
3️⃣ This case isn't just important for the person seeking reproductive care – a decision against mifepristone could have a devastating impact on doctors' ability/willingness to deliver life-saving care to their patients.
John, above all, this case paints a clear picture about the importance of supporting pro-choice voices in our community and ensuring that pro-choice voices in elected office can continue fighting to codify these rights into law.
I've been a proponent for access to reproductive freedom for decades, and I've been fighting for our rights in elected office for just as long. Now with Republicans in Congress soon forced to hold onto a ONE-SEAT majority in a few weeks, we can't let them gain ground by replacing me with a MAGA extremist. Will you support my pro-choice, people-powered reelection campaign with a donation of any amount today? [[link removed]]
