It's Congresswoman Lois Frankel, and I wanted to make sure you heard – tomorrow, the US Supreme Court will hear arguments to decide on the future of mifepristone, one of two drugs administered during a medication abortion.
This comes after anti-choice extremists requested that the FDA reverse their approval of the pill. Without taking up too much of your time, here's what you need to know:
1️⃣ This case was first brought up last year, and if we're going based on precedent to predict the conclusion, the Supreme Court has never overrode the FDA's approval of a drug.
2️⃣ This fight against reproductive freedom isn't a new one. In 2023, Floridians saw our governor sign a six-week abortion ban, and earlier this year, other anti-choice extremists attacked IVF.
3️⃣ This case isn't just important for the person seeking reproductive care – a decision against mifepristone could have a devastating impact on doctors' ability/willingness to deliver life-saving care to their patients.
John, above all, this case paints a clear picture about the importance of supporting pro-choice voices in our community and ensuring that pro-choice voices in elected office can continue fighting to codify these rights into law.
