** Happy Women’s History Month!
------------------------------------------------------------
In the spirit of this month, I want to share a story from a panel I was on with a group of talented women small business owners. The discussion we were having brought to mind a small but powerful observation I highlighted to the group.
In my professional life working in real estate and finance, I often found myself being one of 2-3 women surrounded by mostly male counterparts. These fields were historically predominated by men and it always made me proud to find equal footing with my colleagues around the table. Starting then, I formed a habit to always take a look around the room and notice the makeup of who was there. It brought me pleasure to tell the panel audience that I now find myself in meetings, political and non-political, where the whole boardroom is women. CEO’s, executives, staff, legislators, stakeholder groups — a large portion of them now women. A part of me lights up each time I see this, knowing how far we have come in even just my career. We will continue to support each other and work together to ensure the future is bright and fair for females.

** Let’s talk legislature……
------------------------------------------------------------
This past week marked a session milestone with the last week of committee hearings. These weeks often bring long agendas as the bills that have been sidelined make a final push to be heard. In Health and Human Services committee, we heard nearly two dozen bills over two days. Both HHS and Regulatory Affairs were new committees for me and brought a new level of education to my policy understanding and a high level appreciation for the amazing Dem colleagues I worked with. Shout out to Rep Alma Hernandez, Rep Patty Contreras, Rep Chris Mathis and Rep Quanta Crew for their thoughtful hard work as a team.
My next newsletter will be dedicated to a rundown of the bad and good bills as they continue to move throughout the House and Senate chamber towards the Governor’s desk. The budget is also not far behind and of utmost important this year with the large deficit we have to account for carefully.
With appreciation,
Sarah

The annual one•n•ten Fresh Brunch was another fabulously smashing success. It set records for attendance - over 1,200 allies - and fundraising - over $1.3M dollars raised! Congratulations to such a deserving group that brings hope and strength to so many lives. We need as much of what they do for our LGTBQ+ community!
And congrats to Governor Hobbs for receiving an inaugural award that now bears her name.
