Happy Women’s History Month!
In the spirit of this month, I want to share a story from a panel I was on with a group of talented women small business owners. The discussion we were having brought to mind a small but powerful observation I highlighted to the group.
In my professional life working in real estate and finance, I often found myself being one of 2-3 women surrounded by mostly male counterparts. These fields were historically predominated by men and it always made me proud to find equal footing with my colleagues around the table. Starting then, I formed a habit to always take a look around the room and notice the makeup of who was there. It brought me pleasure to tell the panel audience that I now find myself in meetings, political and non-political, where the whole boardroom is women. CEO’s, executives, staff, legislators, stakeholder groups — a large portion of them now women. A part of me lights up each time I see this, knowing how far we have come in even just my career. We will continue to support each other and work together to ensure the future is bright and fair for females.
