In Alaska, we’re suing the State over their massive SNAP backlog which has denied thousands of vulnerable people the food benefits they need to stave off hunger and severe poverty.

Thanks to our intervention last year, the State cleared its first backlog of over 10,000 people by the end of September 2023, issuing $6.6 million in SNAP benefits. Our litigation continues as we press for a permanent fix to Alaska’s ongoing SNAP processing problems.

People need to eat every single day, and food benefits granted late do not remedy past hunger. By donating to NCLEJ, you can support our efforts to hold state governments accountable to address their SNAP delays, and get food benefits to the families who need them most. ([link removed])
