The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade has emboldened far-right extremists' efforts to restrict reproductive freedom, and now, they’re coming after IVF. After the Alabama Supreme Court issued a ruling limiting IVF treatment, [[link removed]] Senate Republicans blocked a bill that would have protected IVF access nationwide -- despite the GOP claiming to support IVF.

Jim recently announced that he’s stepping down as Assistant Democratic Leader in the House to devote more time to his position as National Co-Chair on the Biden campaign. Jim joined Vice President Kamala Harris and other Black leaders in commemorating the 59th anniversary of Bloody Sunday [[link removed]] by crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, where, in 1965, voting rights activists -- including Jim’s close friend the late Congressman John Lewis -- were beaten back by police. During the anniversary, Jim called attention to present-day efforts to suppress Americans’ right to vote:
“The Voting Rights Act of 1965 became a reality in August of 1965 because of what happened on March 7th of 1965. We are at an inflection point in this country, and hopefully, this year’s march will allow people to take stock of where we are.”
