The Biden Administration announced plans to delay a new environmental rule and replace it with stronger, more comprehensive guidance that will do more to reduce emissions while also doing what’s best for low-income communities and communities of color that have been affected by pollution for decades.

The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade has emboldened far-right extremists' efforts to restrict reproductive freedom, and now, they’re coming after IVF. After the Alabama Supreme Court issued a ruling limiting IVF treatment, Senate Republicans blocked a bill that would have protected IVF access nationwide -- despite the GOP claiming to support IVF. 

Jim appeared on MSNBC to talk about Donald Trump’s track record of hate, racism, and divisiveness and what Jim will be doing in 2024 as National Co-Chair for President Biden’s campaign to remind voters of Trump’s record.

On the Ballot 2024

Jim recently announced that he’s stepping down as Assistant Democratic Leader in the House to devote more time to his position as National Co-Chair on the Biden campaign. (Read Jim’s interview with NPR about the transition here.) In addition to his work in Congress, Jim will be traveling the country to support President Biden and Democrats up and down the ballot in 2024, and he’s counting on supporters like you to get involved. With the first FEC deadline of the election fast approaching, now’s a great time to show your support with a contribution to our organization.

In Case You Missed It!

Jim joined Vice President Kamala Harris and other Black leaders in commemorating the 59th anniversary of Bloody Sunday by crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, where, in 1965, voting rights activists -- including Jim’s close friend the late Congressman John Lewis -- were beaten back by police. During the anniversary, Jim called attention to present-day efforts to suppress Americans’ right to vote:

“The Voting Rights Act of 1965 became a reality in August of 1965 because of what happened on March 7th of 1965. We are at an inflection point in this country, and hopefully, this year’s march will allow people to take stock of where we are.”
