2. The basic requirements and timelines for requests.
3. The responsibilities of the MCOs, the State of Kansas, providers and members related to requests.
4. Changes implemented in 2018 that impacted a member?s course of action. Including the new requirement to initiate an appeal.

Medicaid Fraud

1. Participants will understand the history of the Medicaid Inspector General?s office, its statutory basis for existing, and its duties.
2. Participants will understand what Medicaid fraud is and how to identify it.
3. Participants will understand how Medicaid fraud audits are developed.
4. Participants will review several case studies, which include examples of Medicaid fraud in Caretaker Medical and PD Waiver/Medically Needy.

5. Participants will understand the concepts of Protected Income Limit (PIL), spenddown, and patient liability.
