I grew up in Afton, Minnesota, east of the Twin Cities, and made multiple family trips to the Boundary Waters and Quetico, learning to canoe, camp, and fish. At the age of 12, I was determined to portage a canoe by myself, and realized that when I put my mind to it, I can do really hard things. This is a special place for me and my family, and needs to be protected permanently.

That is why I am so excited to be the keynote speaker at this year’s Boundary Waters Gala! Join me as I share my passion for this special place and why preserving it for future generations is so important.

Jessie Diggins is an American cross-country skier and environmental activist from Afton, Minnesota. She is a 14x World Cup winner, 6x World Championship medalist, 3x Olympian, 3x Olympic medalist, 2024 American Birkebeiner winner, and the reigning World Champion. Jesse is a Protect our Winters Board Member and member of the Athlete Alliance program to support its global cause of uniting the outdoor sports community to support bipartisan policies that protect the places we love and experiences we love from climate change.
